I doubt anyone still playing the game likes listening to the Blizzard sound track. Hence, most of you probably have itunes running in the background, or hook up your favorite CD or radio program. The sad thing is, recently you haven't been able to get free music legally and since you don't want to get in trouble nor do you have any money to spend, you just use the same stuff over and over or wait on a friend to give you a new CD.
Well, while studying for the Writing portion of the MCAT (and part of that is finding an article every day that relates to the listed writing topics), I came across this new service (via wii news) that just debuted today: qtrax.
So what is it exactly? It's a P2P program. Now as soon as I say that, many of you are probably going "it's just another limewire". The difference however, is that Qtrax is endorsed by the record labels on its server. So any of you with a basic understanding of the businesses know that businesses don't just "give" you things without a catch. So how did someone finally manage to get a free music downloading program that's endorsed by major record labels?
The same reason that you can watch TV for free: advertisements! The system is ad-supported like Allahkhazam is, but with no pop-ups and promises of no spyware/viruses. The only catch is right now you cannot burn the tracks to CDs due to a Digital Rights file downloaded with every song. In other words, you can try to burn the title to a CD but it simply won't be recognized by any players.
So in summary:
-Free and Legal Ad-Supported Music Downloading Service
-Promises no spyware and no virus transmission
-Can download any number of songs, just cannot transmit them to a CD.
